French Wine Scholar Program

CourseGraphic The French Wine Scholar ™  (FWS) Study and Certification Program is designed for wine professionals and enthusiastic wine hobbyists who want to immerse themselves in the most current, accurate, and in-depth information on the wines and the wine regions of France.  Developed with the support of the French Ministry of Agriculture, the FWS program covers 14 French Wine Regions over 9 consecutive weeks and concludes with an exam.  Students who follow the detailed curriculum and pass the exam will earn the FWS post-nominal.

The class will cover:

Week 1: Introduction and Alsace region
Week 2: Champagne
Week 3: Burgundy: Part 1
Week 4: Burgundy Part 2 and Beaujolais
Week 5: Rhone Valley
Week 6: Southern France: Languedoc, Roussillon, and Provence
Week 7: Loire Valley
Week 8: Bordeaux
Week 9: Southwest France, Jura, Savoie, and Corsica
Week 10: No Class
Week 11: Final exam
