Are you a creative writer looking to hone your skills and try out some new techniques to re-energize your work?
Looking for constructive feedback and ideas from peers and an experienced writer?
Or maybe you’d finally like to try your hand at a poem or short story, but aren’t quite sure where to start?
Through a hybrid workshop and discussion format, this class aims to give you—a creative writer, at whatever stage of development you may find yourself—the tools to improve your work and methods to jumpstart your thinking and imagination.
Class sessions will include reading and discussing successful poems and pieces of short fiction from a writer’s perspective, in-class writing exercises, and discussing student work in a workshop format.
The focus will be poetry and short fiction, though lovers of creative nonfiction are welcome to join and are sure to find the course extremely useful.
All students will be encouraged to work one-on-one with the instructor to tailor assignments to their individual needs as writers.
