Why are BCAE & JVS combining?
We are thrilled to announce that Jewish Vocational Service (JVS), and the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) are joining together to support economic opportunity for Boston area low-income workers, immigrants and others with obstacles to economic success. By combining BCAE and JVS, the legacy, Board talent, and resources of BCAE will enable JVS to expand its capacity to provide high-quality, innovative adult education, training and employment services to thousands of Massachusetts’ residents well into the future. Who is JVS?
Founded in 1938, JVS is among the oldest and largest providers of adult education, vocational skills training, and employment services in Greater Boston. It empowers individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers, while partnering with employers to hire, develop, and retain productive workforces. Can I still take classes at the BCAE?
BCAE will no longer be offering its familiar adult education classes. JVS has begun planning for use of 122 Arlington Street as a satellite location for classes and training programs to complement their current offerings at the Center for Economic Opportunity, located at 75 Federal Street. Please visit the website for updates over the coming months.
Are there other providers of community adult education classes like the BCAE in Greater Boston?
Yes! Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in person classes are still on hold, but online classes are running in the following centers. Please visit Brookline Adult and Community Education, the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, and Newton Community Education.

I have a BCAE gift card or credit, what should I do?
If you have remaining value on your gift card that you would like refunded, please submit a request. If you have an outstanding course credit that you would like refunded click here. This may take up to 8 weeks to process. You may also choose to contribute the remaining balance toward the BOOST Fund and its future initiatives. Please include your name, mailing address, and Gift Card Code (if applicable).
