Ben Lightbody serves as the Executive Chef of Bramble Hospitality, overseeing the culinary programs at Willowdale Estate and Briar Barn Inn. From curating menus and leading the catering team at one of the North Shore’s premier wedding and event destinations, Ben brings over a decade of culinary experience to Briar Barn Inn. Born and raised in Ipswich, Ben showcases local elements and New England familiarity to his guests.
Ben offers a menu of approachable, yet refined dishes highlighting regional farms and local purveyors. His culinary career began at 15, when he worked his way through a variety of restaurants on the North Shore and Boston. In addition to events and Grove at Briar Barn Inn operation, Ben instructs cooking classes and Willowdale Estate’s popular pop-up supper club events, showcasing his creativity and highlighting fresh local ingredients. His technique is rich in simplicity, which he learned on a life-changing trip to Japan.
When Ben is not in the kitchen, he is spending time with his daughter Adeline and wife Barbara. Ben also collects high-end kitchen cutlery from makers around the world and considers the upkeep of such culinary tools an extension of his craft.
