Leaving her family in Nepal at the age of nine, nothing had prepared Gita for the 180-degree change in her life; most noticeably, her palate was unaccustomed to infinitely new food options. Today, Gita would describe her cooking as uniquely American in that it combines spices and flavors from all over the world. She draws upon her love to experiment with food, established early on in her life, and finds ways to reconnect with her home. Cooking has always been a culinary experience that connects her with her mother in recreating a sense of youthful nostalgia. In order to leverage her passion for cooking, Gita interned at Trade, Rialto, and Journeyman, where she gained valuable insights into the professional culinary world.
