Phoebe Baker Hyde’s debut memoir, The Beauty Experiment, was named a 2013 “Book of Style” by The New York Times. She has contributed essays on self, place, and culture to The Los Angeles Times, Salon.com, and The Wall Street Journal. Her short fiction has been widely published in literary journals and nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Phoebe is an instructor at the Cape Cod Writer’s Center in Hyannis and leads private writing workshops for groups in the Boston area. She taught undergraduate seminars in fiction, non-fiction, journalism, and composition at the University of California, Irvine where she earned her Master of Fine Arts in writing. She has been a panelist or guest speaker at local literary events sponsored by the National Writer’s Union, the Women’s National Book Association, and the Newton Mother’s Forum. She was interviewed on WBUR’s Radio Boston and has been profiled in the Globe’s “G” section, on WBZ/CBS, Fox 25, and NECN. Phoebe currently lives in Boston with her family.
