A Message from the BCAE Board of Directors
Last fall, the BCAE terminated the former Executive Director and Controller following a financial audit which showed fiscal irregularities. Subsequently, the BCAE filed a lawsuit against those individuals, which is pending in Suffolk Superior Court. A recently published article details the lawsuit.
We have since made great strides in responding to the issues created by these former employees. We have made important adjustments to our fiscal operations and instituted new policies and procedures to ensure we are adhering to best practices. We have hired an Interim Executive Director, Susan Getman, who is highly experienced in running non-profits and is tasked with conducting operation and strategic assessments of our entire organization.
While this has been a difficult and disappointing experience for all of us, we have a wonderful team whose professionalism and dedication have ensured that the Center thrives. A strong, highly regarded, mission-driven institution, the Boston Center for Adult Education succeeds because of your interest and support, which has enabled us to provide educational opportunities for adults that foster personal and professional development, enhance a sense of community, and encourage social responsibility.
Collectively, we feel our organization is stronger than it has ever been, and we are excited for our future.
Thank you for your continued support of the BCAE.
