How a Rooftop Farm Changed the Way Fenway Fans Eat $45.00

One of the country’s oldest and most iconic ballparks has an organic farm on its 100 year-old roof. Fenway Farms grows everything from basil to beets and is the home of some honey bee hives as well. This rooftop installation not only shows what modern urban farming can look like, it also yields almost 6,000 pounds of fresh, organic food each year. This new source of food presents an exciting challenge for the great chefs at Fenway Park charged with creating delicious new dishes that showcase the fresh vegetables and herbs grown on site. From kale wraps to “Green Monster Mojitos,” the chefs at Fenway have reinvented ballpark food.

Join Linda Henry, who helped produce Fenway Farms; Noah Wilson-Rich, a world expert on bees; and Ron Abell, Executive Chef at Fenway Park for a lively public conversation about urban farming moderated by television personality Jenny Johnson.

Following the conversation, you are invited to an intimate reception with small bites prepared by Chef Abell featuring ingredients fresh from the farm, and Champy, a sparkling wine from Jenny Johnson.

This special event is presented against the backdrop of the BCAE’s current exhibit, Modern Acres, featuring photographs from Christopher Padgett that celebrate local farms.
