« back to classes page

Already feel comfortable operating a sewing machine? Improve your sewing skills and develop better spatial thinking as you work on a box-shaped cushion with zipper closure, a square pillow with trim/twisted cord, a table runner, and basic drapes without lining. You'll also learn how to calculate yardage of fabric and trim for your projects. You don’t have to hunt for fabulous home décor when you can create it yourself!

Prerequisite & Special Notice: A Sewing for Beginners course at the BCAE or some sewing experience and knowledge of a sewing machine. The BCAE has a limited number of sewing machines available for student use, but its best that you bring your own if you can.

What to bring to the first class:

1 foam cushion: approximate size 18 x 19 x 2

3/4 yd of cotton fabric to cover the cushion

matching spool of thread

1 zipper: 18" or longer

sewing tools ( 2 rulers, tape measure, tailor's chalk, pins and scissors are a must!)
